One of my bestie's Whitney and I were at our friend Stacie's birthday party. We were sitting on a couch next to the door when Demetrius walked in. She immediately turned to us and said "Hi, nice to meet you, I'm Demetrius!" I remembered thinking she was nice and attractive, but not giving her much more thought! We went through the rest of the birthday party barely speaking. The next morning, we met up with some other friends for brunch. Demetrius sat directly across from me. I remember her being very funny and I was looking forward to our friendship. Within a months time I had to stop denying my attraction. She was (and still is) beautiful, funny, caring, and one of the most positive people that I know. Meeting her was one of the biggest blessings in my life.

Nancy caught my eye from the moment I saw her. ;-) I introduced myself promptly upon walking in the door. There was so much going on, that I didn't get her phone number that night. Fortunately though, my good friend who was also there got Nancy's roommate's number. She called her roommate the next morning and we connected again for brunch.  I'll never forget what Nancy said while we all carpooled to brunch. I'm not sure of how relationships came up, but she said "most young people don't know what it takes to make a relationship work; there's a lot of hard work that goes into it".  I damn near broke my neck looking back at her when she said this! From numerous past relationships, I'd never heard anyone say something so simple and powerful...I knew this was the start of something fantastic.
