Bride

We were on vacation in Tampa and after a day of adventure, we decided to get some dinner.  After 30 minutes of wandering the streets of Orlando, we settle on a quaint little Thai place.  There was nothing extraordinary about dinner; we just talked and laughed about all the high jinks of the day.

We left the restaurant and went back to Macdill.  Instead of going back to the room we decided to do some exploring.  For those of you who have never been to Macdill Air force base, it is absolutely gorgeous.  There are tall and majestic Palm trees lining cobble-stoned walkways and fantastic views of endless ocean.

Anyway, we find a cliff near the marina with three palm trees arranged in a semi-circle.  As I gazed out into the water, I kept thinking about how beautiful and quiet everything was.

Suddenly, Aisya came up behind me and whispered, "Close your eyes and hold out your hands."

I don't know why but I kept thinking she was going to put a gecko or something in them.

When I heard the words,” You can open them," I barely processed what was actually happening.

Her mouth was moving and I'm sure she was saying wonderful things about love and our lives but I heard nothing.  All I could focus on was the woman I loved on bended knee, a huge pink moon, and a beautiful ring.

When I finally got my ears to function, I heard, "…You are the greatest gift I have ever received and I want to make sure I spend all the rest of my birthdays with you.  So, will you marry me?"

I kept thinking about how perfect everything was and how happy wonderful it felt to be proposed to.  I imagined our entire lives together before I was pulled out of my daze.

Then she said, "Um…yes or no...These rocks are pretty hard on my knee!"

I laughed and said "yes" over and over again.  As she placed the ring on my trembling hand, I felt my heart would burst with love and happiness.  It truly was the most romantic night of my life, even though I was only wearing a sweatshirt and leggings!

I tell it the same way minus the pink moon and the gecko.
